WDW College Program
Hello :) so I have not actually applied for the WDW College Program yet, but I fully intend to within the next year. I have looked at the online stuff, but I just really want some more personal takes on the whole experience, and I figure this is the place to get it! I am also very interested in being a Character Performer when I take part in the program. What do I need to focus on? And what would be my chances of getting in? Any help anyone can give me would be awesome!!! Thanks so much :)
I was a Character Performer when I was at Disney. You need to go to a character audition- don't go to a face audition right off, go to a fur audition. They'll teach you some dance and have you do some pantomime, and then your actual audition is putting it all together. You'll want to wear stuff it's easy to move in- light sneakers or jazz shoes, probably yoga pants or shorts, nothing too tight or too bulky. I think I wore my cheerleading shoes, yoga pants, and a baby t-shirt. You'll find out that day (at least, that has been my experience) if you made it or not.
Thanks so much! What is the competition like? I mean are there crazy good people and then some not so good people? I have a lot of dance experience and a some acting...I just want to know what I will be up against? And is there a ton of people at every audition? When were u a CP? Is there a way to become a face character when you are fur? Sorry for all the questions lol
Yes I was a CP. To be a face character you have to go to face auditions. You might be better off just applying to be a CP and then, once you're down there, going to the first fur audition you can find. If you get accepted as a character, they'll arrange for you to switch jobs.
The competition isn't bad- just go in, do your best, don't stress out, and keep a smile on your face. Laugh, even if you screw up.
Yeah, there's a ton of people, but they break you into smaller groups.
Oh, and I did face as Wendy/Alice (but never actually Alice... just Wendy) until I started showing from my pregnancy. Then I did just fur for awhile. :)
Response takes about 2 wks for most people.
Depending on which audition you go to you could be pulled for a Face character. (Some auditions don't do face characters.)
If you aren't selected for Character Performer, then you'll be selected for one of the other positions you applied for during your interview.
Auditions only occur in major cities, and even then, it might not be one near you. They don't hold auditions in New Orleans, but they do hold them in Houston, TX.
I'd focus on auditioning techniques, basic dance, and pantomiming.
